Sustainability conscious

Following the principles of sustainability, RUSTIC HILL is balanced between the natural environment, the tourism development and the local society. Our goal is to integrate the artificial infrastructure in the natural beauty of the hill with respect and responsibility. We have tactics to reduce energy and save water and we use ecological and natural raw materials. We promote and enhance local tradition, history and gastronomy through the use of local goods. We create bonds with Messenian land, follow our own sustainable consciousness and offer you a sustainable accommodation.

COCO-MAT

Mattresses, pillows and bed linen as well as towels and bathrobes, are made by COCO-MAT with natural, hypoallergenic materials.

AUTONOMY

We have started the installation of solar panels aiming to reduce our energy footprint and achieve energy autonomy, from a reusable energy source, for our property by the end of 2023.

SAVINGS

Linen reuse program (Bed linen and towels). We want our guests to support our action and save together great amounts of energy and tons of water.

WATER

Replacement of all tap heads with new low flow heads. Dual flush toilets.

SUN

Solar water heaters installation for hot water.

ENVIRONMENT

We use environmentally friendly cleaning products.

COMPOST

Composting of both organic leftovers from the kitchen and herbal remnants from gardening the premises.

WASTE

Sorting waste in rooms, bar, kitchen and office. Installation of recycling bins.

CLEANING

We cooperate with partners with mutual environmental ethics. The washing of all of our linens is with environmentally friendly products.

LIGHTING

Replacement of all old technology light bulbs with new LED bulbs for maximum energy effectiveness.

LOCAL PRODUCTS

Supporting the local economy by using only local products for the preparation of our delicacies from local producers and suppliers.

PLASTIC

Replacement of plastic straws with biodegradable ones.
